PURPOSE: A direction and location information display apparatus of a mobile terminal and its control method are provided to allow a user to obtain geographic information including directions by adding compass function in a mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: It is checked whether a compass function has been set(502). If the compass function has been set, a control unit of a mobile terminal maintains a GPS control signal provided to a GPS receiver in an active state(504). The control unit receives a GPS determination information from the GPS receiver and stores it(506), and activates a control signal to enable a direction sensor(508). The control unit transfers the GPS determination information to a base station(510), and checks whether location display information is received from the base station(512). When the location display information is received, the control unit corrects an azimuth angle of the location display information(514). The control unit provides the obtained data to a display unit(516).
