摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an ultrafine record image by an ink jet process and thermally transfer the record image to a medium for an image to be transferred to with irregularities and thereby, obtain a transfer image showing outstanding gradation properties and high shelf stability such as mar resistance and water resistance. SOLUTION: This transfer medium for ink jet recording is formed of a hard coat layer, a cushioning layer and an ink receiving layer containing at least a hydrophilic polymer and a thermoplastic organic fine particle, sequentially formed on at least one of the sides of a base material, the base material being releasable from the hard coat layer. Especially, the hard coat layer is preferably formed of an ultraviolet-curable resin having at least an acryloyl group. The cushioning layer can be composed mainly of a pliable resin, especially a resin whose 100% modulus stipulated by JIS K6301 is 100 Kg/cm<2> or less. The ink receiving layer is composed of a hydrophilic polymer (a polyvinyl alcohol, a polyvinyl pyrrolidone, a cellulose derivative or a modified substance, etc.), and a thermoplastic organic fine particle. Further, the ink receiving layer may obtain a crosslinking agent, a dye fixing agent or the like.
