PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting torching drip-down of a continuously cast slab with which it can be judged whether the torching drip-down occurs or not under consideration to the characteristic in the kind of steel and separation with a downward warp to the continuously cast slab once removing the torching drip-down. SOLUTION: In case of detecting the torching drip-down generated on the end part of the continuously cast slab, a peak height (h) and also, an inclination (θ) coming to this peak height at the end part of the continuously cast slab are measured, and when this peak height (h) and the inclination (θ) exceed threshold values decided in each kind of steel, it is judged that this is the torching drip-down.
