PURPOSE: A gas lifter for opening a tailgate in a vehicle is provided to keep pressure of gas in the lifter constant by supplying gas to a cylinder in leakage of gas from the cylinder with forming an auxiliary gas charger in the lower part of the cylinder. CONSTITUTION: A gas lifter for opening a tailgate is composed of a cylinder(11) filled with gas, and fixed at a side of a vehicle body(1); a piston rod(12) moved in the cylinder and fastened in the tailgate; and an auxiliary gas charge unit(110) installed in the rear part of the cylinder to supply gas in lowering pressure from leak of gas from the cylinder. The auxiliary gas charge unit has a stopper ring(111) restricting movement of the piston rod with a gas hole(111a), an auxiliary cylinder(112) forming the auxiliary gas chamber by sealing the rear part of the cylinder and movably combining with the cylinder, an auxiliary piston rod(113) fixed in the auxiliary cylinder and elastically moved along the auxiliary gas chamber, separation plates(115,116) having gas holes(115a,116a) and forming auxiliary gas chambers between the stopper ring and the auxiliary piston rod, balls(B1,B2) opening gas holes of separation plates selectively according to pressure, and springs(S1,S2) elastically supporting the balls.
