PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of noise generated due to assemblage clearance of a bearing rotatably supporting a worm shaft to a housing in an electric power steering device in which rotation of an electric motor is reduced by a worm gear mechanism and transmitted to a steering mechanism. SOLUTION: An outer ring 39 of a second rolling bearing 35 is energized by a pre-load providing screw member 45 driven into a screw hole 46 in a gear housing 5 to provide pre-load to a first and the second rolling bearings 34 and 35. An outer ring 38 of the first rolling bearing 34 is butted on a tapered inner surface of a first bearing holding hole 40 to eliminate diametric clearance between the outer ring 38 and the first bearing holding hole 40.
