PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyhemiacetal-ester resin of a hydroxy acid, useful for providing a heat-set composition providing a cured product having excellent chemical properties, physical properties and weather resistance at a comparatively low temperature, having good preservation stability, and utilizable as a high- solid one-pot type. SOLUTION: This polyhemiacetal-ester resin of the hydroxy acid is obtained by reacting the hydroxy acid having one carboxy group and one hydroxy group per molecule, with a divinyl ether compound or a divinyl thioether compound, and has 500-100,000 weight average molecular weight. The polyhemiacetal-ester resin of the hydroxy acid has a group represented by formula (1) (wherein, R<1> and R<2> are each a divalent organic group; and Y is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom) as a repeating unit.
