PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent vinylene carbonate (VCA) copolymer having a glass transition temperature of >=60 deg.C, containing chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) or tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) unit as a comonomer unit and suitable for producing guide articles for light of visible or near-infrared ray wavelength or optical fibers. SOLUTION: This transparent and noncrystalline copolymer comprises at least two recurring units P1 and P2 shown by the respective general formulae (i and j are the recurrence numbers of the units P1 and P2, respectively), having a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of 5×10<3> to 10<5> ; wherein when X is F or Cl in the unit P1, the P2 unit content of the copolymer is about 30-70 mol%. |
