CATALYTIC BODY AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkali metals-containing catalytic body in which the reaction of alkali metals with a catalyst carrier is suppressed and the degrada tion of the carrier or the catalytic performance is decreased and a manufactur ing method thereof. SOLUTION: The catalytic body is formed by carrying a catalytic material containing an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal on the carrier. The carrier contains a cordierite binder phase 1 and an aggregate phase 2 dispersed in the cordierite binder phase 1. The manufacturing method of the catalytic body formed by carrying the catalytic material containing the alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal on the carrier includes (I) a process for obtaining a molding by molding a carrier raw material containing a binder raw material components for forming the cordierite binder phase 1 and an aggregate raw materials for forming the aggregate phase 2, (II) a process for forming the carrier containing the cordierite binder phase and the aggregate phase dispersed in the cordierite binder phase by firing the molding and (III) a process for carrying catalytic material containing the alkali metal and/or the alkaline earth metal on the carrier.
