PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb a shock at the time of collision against vehicle, respond safely to a pedestrian, and reduce repair expenses of the vehicle at the time of light collision. SOLUTION: A bumper device for a vehicle 10 is provided with a bumper beam 15, a variable damper 14, a collision object detecting means 11 and a control means 13. The bumper beam 15 consists of a central damper body 24 placed to the center of the car width direction, a left bumper body 25 placed to the left of the car width direction and a right damper body 26 placed to the right. The control means 13 changes the damping force of a central damper means, a left part damper means, and a right part damper means respectively according to the collision object and the collision pattern when the collision object collides with the bumper beam.
