摘要 PURPOSE: To reduce the cost of the optical transmission system by using one maintenance operation communication channel and transferring transfer information to each optical repeater in a relay form while terminating the information so as to reduce number of individual maintenance operation communication channels. CONSTITUTION: Multiplexer terminal equipments 11 opposed to each other are connected via plural optical reproduction repeaters 12 and an optical repeater 13. A maintenance operation communication channel comprising a communication function and connection channel is set between the multiplexer terminal equipment 11 and a maintenance operation equipment 14. The multiplexer terminal equipment 11 has a communication function with the maintenance operation equipment 14, a function of monitoring the optical reproduction repeaters 12 and the optical repeater 13 and a communication function among the optical repeaters. Furthermore, the optical reproduction repeaters 12 and the optical repeater 13 have a function of monitoring relay blocks and a communication function with the multiplexer terminal equipments. Remote maintenance operation is conducted for the optical reproduction repeaters 12 and the optical repeater 13 connected between the multiplexer terminal equipments 11 by using the functions above.
