PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system and a server that can simply and economically check a meter or apply drive control to a device via a network. SOLUTION: In the communication system 1 provided with a gas meter 9 with a communication function and the server 3 connected to the gas meter 9 via a network 5, the gas meter 9 is provided with a reception section 51 and the server 3 is provided with a wireless transmission section 17. When the reception section 51 receives a call signal from the transmission section 17, the gas meter 9 uses its communication function to access the server 3, receives a command from the server 3 and executes operations according to the command such as metering of the meter.
