PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus-checking method for accurately examining which part of negative film images is focused at in a short time, which does not requiring experience, and to provide an imaging apparatus of negative film images. SOLUTION: Visible light is applied from the rear of a negative film for displaying negative images, one portion of the negative images is enlarged and imaged for performing negative-positive conversion by a CCD camera that incorporates a negative-positive conversion mechanism, and at the same time, attaches a close-up mechanism, the image data that are subjected to negative-to- positive conversion are inputted to a computer for enlarging and displaying a positive image on a CRT or a liquid crystal display, and whether the enlarged and imaged portion is focused is inspected by the enlarged and displayed positive image.
