PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color conversion definition for converting RGB data into CMYK data, which are superior in print adaptation and metrically corresponding in a method, apparatus, etc., for forming the color conversion definition which defines the relation of the data conversion from the RGB data for printers to the CMYK data for printing images with reproduced colors outputted from a printer for outputting the image from the inputted RGB for the printer. SOLUTION: A curve of K on a gray axis is obtained (first K function generator 54), using a data conversion algorithm 60 which has color conversion parameters adjusted and determined by those skilled in color coordination, and the conversion algorithm 60 is changed into a colorimetrically faithful conversion algorithm, to obtain the values of K in all color spaces (a second K function generator 56). For C, M, Y but K, their values are obtained, so that their colorimetric values match.
