PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, at the time of mounting a ceramic case on a circuit board by means of an automatic mounting machine, the clamping section 12 of the mounting machine must be exchanged frequently, because the section is scraped off by friction between the section 12 and the ceramic case. SOLUTION: An electronic component is composed of an electronic element, an electronic element housing case 1 having a housing section 14 which houses the body of the electronic element and slits 15 for passing lead wires 3 extended from the body, and an encapsulating material 2 packed in the housing section 14 after the body of the electronic element is housed in the section 14. The housing case 1 has chamfered sections at least partially in its external form.
