PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery to use a carbonaceous material which has a large specific area and which is difficult to react with electrolytic solution and to be formed by a negative electrode material which has a high safety on handling, and provide a lithium secondary battery which has a high output and a superior cycle characteristic in addition to inexpensiveness and the high safety. SOLUTION: The negative electrode for the lithium secondary battery is formed by the negative electrode material containing a negative electrode active substance composed of vapor phase epitaxial carbon fiber and a water-based binder. Further, the lithium secondary battery is constituted by using this negative electrode. By using the vapor phase epitaxial carbon fiber, which has the large specific surface area and which is difficult to react with the electrolytic solution as the negative electrode active substance, the lithium secondary battery which has the high output and which is superior in the cycle characteristic can be constituted. Further, by using the water-based binder, it becomes the lithium secondary battery which is inexpensive, eco-friendly and higher in the safety. |
