<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission system that can enhance the transmission efficiency in transmission of data through a serial transmission line. SOLUTION: The data transmission system comprises: a transmitter; a receiver; and the serial transmission line. The transmitter receives and stores one or more short cells extracted from multiplexed ATM cells and transmits the short cell when the short cell exists or an idle cell when no short cell exists respectively to the receiver via the serial transmission line. The receiver receives the short cell and the idle cell, acquires the data length of the received short cell and idle cell, determines whether the receiver receives the short cell or the idle cell on the basis of the acquired data length, discards the received idle cell when the receiver determines that the receiver receives the idle cell, and outputs the received short cell when determining the short cell.</p> |
