HIGH PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure discharge lamp improving pressure resistance. SOLUTION: This high pressure discharge lamp provide with a container constituted of a luminous part 1 and a side pipe part 2 and with quartz as its main component, mercury sealed in the luminous part 1, a metal foil 4 buried and provided in the side pipe part 2 and an electrode rod 3 constituted with its one end connected to the metal foil 4 and the other end extended to the luminous part 1, the electrode rod 3 has a surface area increasing structure 6 to increase a surface area at least on one part of the parts buried and provided in the side pipe part 2 and a sealing part glass 9 to which at least one kind of metal material of metal or metallic oxides is added is provided on a part of the side pipe part 2 including a connecting part of the metal foil 4 and the electrode rod 3 and a part of the surface area increasing structure 6.
