PURPOSE: A water supply apparatus for a washing machine and a method thereof are provided to improve washing efficiency by heating washing water according to the kind of the laundry and adjusting the temperature of water with a single feed valve. CONSTITUTION: A water supply device of a washing machine is composed of a feed water valve installed in the lower part of a supply hose(78) for supplying cool water to regulate supply of washing water, and a water temperature adjusting unit(90) heating cool water from the feed water valve at the predetermined temperature and supplying water to a washing tub(54) and a dehydrating tub(56). The water temperature adjusting unit has a water storage part storing cool water, a temperature sensor detecting cool water temperature from the water storage part, and a heater heating cool water. A control unit(62) controls the feed water valve and the heater according to temperature from the temperature sensor. |
