Device (1) for size-exclusion filtration of liquids comprising a filtration material (2) having at least one, generally crosslinked, organic polymer (I) with the properties of a gel-filtration medium, in the form a porous particles, especially beads, is new. The particles are pre-swollen by hydration then dehydrated. An Independent claim is also included for preparation of (1) by swelling the particles with an aqueous or polar organic solvent, then dehydrating them to form a dry filtration material, ready for use.
