IMAGE INFORMATION STORAGE METHOD AND MAGNETIC TAPE FOR IMAGE INFORMATION FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image information storage method which can inexpensively save a large amount of animation images and can instantaneously reproduce the desired images and permits random access and to provide an image information storage method which can be utilize for saving of the large amount of the animation images by electronic mail and can be utilized for saving of the monitor video images from a monitor video camera. SOLUTION: The method of storing the image information comprises saving the large amount of the image information on a magnetic tape by a helical scan system and recording portions of the saved image information, the outlines of the image information and the image recording positions on the magnetic tape as a file within a hard disk. A magnetic tape which can make the digital magnetic recording by the helical scan system and a magnetic tape which is >=25 MB/s in data transfer speed are adequate as the magnetic tape for recording the image information for this purpose.
