The invention concerns a component for authenticating a document or a product, comprising a transparent plastic film embossed to display at least a diffraction grating, the embossed surface being at least partly coated with a metallized layer. The invention is characterised in that the embossed film includes a first zone (4) producing a rainbow effect with respect to the illuminating direction, said rainbow effect vanishing when the component is oriented perpendicularly to the first orientation, and a second zone (6) coated with a dielectric material producing a coloured effect of a first colour for a first orientation of the component and a second different colour for the orientation perpendicular to the first orientation. |
