The electric power steering for a motor vehicle has an electric motor and a motor controller. A computer calculates the power as a function of a first group (P1-2) of vehicle parameters. A secondary computer (32) calculates the power reduction as a function of a second parameter group (P1-3). The second computer has two sub computers (41,42) to determine the reduction factor using the parameter groups. Claims include a method of power steering control using the steering assembly.
