PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image distortion correcting device in which a distortion correcting process of a scanned image can be accelerated. SOLUTION: The image distortion correcting device calculates a virtual page profile VE of a virtual page profile when the page profile of a book original is regarded to be disposed on a boundary part A of the scanned image in response to the distortion generated part (x0-y0) of the page profile, and corrects the distortion at the main scanning direction of the scanned image based on the virtual page profile VE. Thus, since the virtual page profile VE is calculated in response to the distortion generated part (x0-y0) of the scanned image, the distortion correction of the main scanning direction of the scanned image is performed only for the distortion generated part (x0-y0) of the scanned image, and hence the process can be accelerated.
