PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile information terminal capable of handling information with enhanced portability. SOLUTION: In the mobile information terminal 1 capable of information operation and transmission/reception and provided with a terminal body section 17 including a display section 9 for displaying information, an entry section 10 that enters the information, a control section 32 that processes information, a first battery 20 for supplying power to the control section 32, and a first near distance wireless control means section 45 capable of near distance communication corresponding to a near distance wireless communication system, and a wireless communication device 2 including a radio section 41 capable of performing radio transmission with a base stating of a mobile communication system and a second near distance wireless communication section 44 corresponding to the near distance wireless communication system and capable of near distance communication and connected to the body section 17, a second battery 21 for supplying power is mounted on the wireless communication section 2 removed from the body section 17 so as to allow the section 2 to be used as a mobile phone, and the first and second near distance wireless communication sections 45, 22 make near distance wireless communication to remotely control the main body section 17.
