PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more flexible system for inputting a physical document together with an attribute to a back-end system. SOLUTION: The system for inputting the physical document into the digital back-end system comprises a scanner for scanning the document and generating an associated document image file, a server (12) including an intermediate document store (13), connected to the scanner for storing the document image file together with a document identification in the document file, and an input device (14) connected to the server (12) for inputting an attribute file which includes a set of document attributes accompanied by the document identification (34), wherein the server (14) includes a merging unit (18) for checking whether a document identification of one of the attribute files corresponds to a document identification of one of the document files, and, if so, links the set of attributes to this document file.
