PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium cartridge which does not allow the entering of a minute foreign particles, dust, etc. SOLUTION: The recording medium cartridge 1 houses an information recording medium 3, an inner shell 4 and a shutter 5 in a cartridge casing 2 comprising upper and lower shells 21 and 22. The lower shell 22 is provided with an opening part 6a for recording/reproduction to face to part of an information recording medium 3 in a diameter direction, and a central opening part 6b for driving the information recording medium 3. The inner shell 4 is provided with almost the same opening part 42a for recording/reproduction and central opening part 42b as those of the lower shell 22. When the inner shell 4 is rotated, the shutter 5 is driven to open and close the opening part 6a for recording/reproduction and the central opening part 6b of the lower shell 22. The shutter 5 is provided with a rugged dust-proofing means 11 extending in a direction crossing a direction orthogonal of the side edge 6a' of the opening part 6a for recording/ reproduction of the lower shell 22 on a surface opposed to the lower shell 22 in the state where the opening part 6a for recording/reproduction and central opening part 6b of the lower shell 22 are closed.
