PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium excellent in traveling durability, traveling stability or the like. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium having a magnetic recording layer formed on one face of a nonmagnetic support body and a back coat layer formed on the other face, the back coat layer contains polyimide resin such as polyamide imide as binder resin. The polyimide resin contains -SO3M, -COOM or the like. The obtained magnetic recording medium is free from blocking even under high temperature and high humidity conditions and has improved storage stability and excellent traveling durability and traveling stability.
