PURPOSE: A method for suppressing cathode oxidation is provided to extend life cycle of the cathode and improve physical properties of product by cutting off cathode portion such as titanium drum exposed to the atmosphere during plating process from the atmosphere, and a method for manufacturing metal foil using the same is provided. CONSTITUTION: In a cathode oxidation suppressing apparatus comprising electrolyte(12), electrolytic cell(10) for containing the electrolyte(12), cathode(20) and anode(30) electrically connected to each other to react the electrolyte(12), metal foil(22) separated from the surface of the cathode(20), guide roll(40) for guiding the metal foil(22) to the outside of the electrolytic cell(10), winding roll(70) for winding the metal foil(22), and liquid spray nodule mounted on the upper part of the cathode(20), the method for suppressing cathode oxidation is characterized in that gas injection unit(52) is substituted for the liquid spray nodule so that the gas injection unit(52) suppresses oxidation of the cathode by injecting gas onto the surface of the cathode(20), wherein a protection cover(60) is installed on the upper part of the cathode(20), and wherein the gas is selected from inert gas, hydrogen gas and general air gas, and temperature of the gas is 50 deg.C or less.
