PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that high current density can not be obtained when a cold cathode type electron gun is used for an electron gun for a cathode ray tube. SOLUTION: This electron gun structure is provided with an electron source 9 emitting electrons by concentration of electric field, a cathode sleeve 10 retaining the electron source at a tip part thereof, a heater 12 heating the electron source 9 retained by the cathode sleeve 10 to promote electron emission form the electron source 9. Electron emission promotion action by the heater 12 achieves a high current density and high brightness of a display device.
