PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate loss and leakage of information by preventing continuation of activation of an information equipment main body without being aware of the non-attachment and erroneous attachment of an external storage device. SOLUTION: The non-attachment and the erroneous attachment of the external storage device to a connecting part 3 are detected in power application. Presence/absence information of check for the external storage device is set in a nonvolatile memory 2. For initial attachment of the external storage device, identification information is generated, imparted to the external storage device, simultaneously stored in the main body and presence of check is set. For the next power application, the omission of attachment is detected when the attachment is not detected by an external storage device detecting part 4 at a state of presence of check, in addition, the erroneous attachment is detected when pieces of identification information are noncoincident, a warning is simultaneously given since no conformity processing (for taking conformity of main body management information to the information contents which the external storage device actually has) can be performed at the state, the startup is interrupted and the loss and the leakage of the information which may be caused when operations are executed when unconformity is left unsolved are eliminated.
