PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply an inexpensive and compact external storage device capable of saving electric power without incurring the deterioration of performance of the external storage device. SOLUTION: A computer system is provided with a main storage device, at least one external storage device, and a control means for setting at least one cache region for the external storage device in the main storage device. In this computer system having this configuration, the control means sets a size of the cache region provided in the main storage device optimally based on a specific condition.
