PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device in the structure for improving an aperture rate is provided to selectively extend a pattern of a black matrix at portions of light leakage, thereby preventing the light leakage at the peripheral parts of data wires and improving the aperture rate. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device in the structure for improving an aperture rate includes a plurality of gate wires(104) formed in a first direction and a plurality of data wires(110) formed in a second direction intersecting the gate wires for defining pixel areas, switching elements formed on the intersections between the gate and data wires, and a plurality of pixel electrodes(112) positioned on the pixel areas in connection with the switching elements. The pixel electrodes are apart from the data wires by a predetermined interval and defined with aperture parts. A black matrix(120) covers the areas except the aperture areas of the pixel electrodes, wherein a distance from a left pixel electrode to the black matrix is different from a distance from a right pixel electrode at a position corresponding to a longitudinal center line of the data wires.
