PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discrimination processing device not requiring a special rule for 'the others' class or processing. SOLUTION: A probability distribution information storage part 162 stores the information of each probability distribution of class Ci (1<=i<=1). The classes C1-Cn are ordinary classes, and class Cn+1 is 'the others' class. A probability calculating part 102 reads out the information from the probability distribution information storage part 162 on the basis of data of a characteristic vector x delivered from a characteristic vector input part 122, and simultaneously calculates the post probability of the characteristic vector x belonging to the respective classes. A class deciding part 106 decides the class Ci to which the characteristic vector x belongs by selecting the maximum value of the probabilities calculated by the probability calculating part 162.
