PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a material cost, simplify a manufacturing process and improve productivity by replacing a conventionally used costly invar material electrode with a insulating body and metal film. SOLUTION: This color flat display element includes a back surface glass 1, a back surface electrode 2, a cathode 3 emitting electrons, a control electrode 4, a signal electrode 5, a convergence electrode 6, a horizontal/vertical deflection electrodes 7, 8, a front surface glass 9 formed with a fluorescent screen, and a spacer 20 keeping an interval between the electrodes. Each electrode member of the control electrode 4, the signal electrode 5, the convergence electrode 6, and the horizontal/vertical deflection electrodes 7, 8 are formed with the insulating body. Conductive films 31 functioning as electrodes are formed on surfaces of the electrode members.
