PURPOSE: A device for performing MAC scheduling in an OLT(Optical Line termination) of a PON(Passive Optical Network) and a method thereof are provided to connect the OLT with ONUs(Optical Network Units) by using a passive optical element, and to dynamically assign bandwidths to the ONUs in a B-PON(Broadband-PON), thereby maintaining QoS(Quality of Service) given to each traffic. CONSTITUTION: An MAC scheduling device includes various clock information, an MAC controller, a mini slot_grant_scheduler(401), a lookup table_scheduler(402), a raising_grant_scheduler(403), a data_grant_scheduler(407), and a multiplexer_scheduler(409). The MAC scheduling device dynamically assigns bandwidths to many ONUs connected to an OLT, and maintains QoS given to each traffic by generating various grant information as operating by a command of a CPU and mini slot information transmitted through the ONUs. The MAC scheduling device distributes grants to a PLOAM(Physical Layer Operation And Maintenance) cell generator according to priorities. |
