PURPOSE: An apparatus for reproducing audio/video data of a digital TV system and a method thereof are provided to store the presently received data while displaying the stored data, and watch the presently received media data in real time by displaying time shifted data at high speed. CONSTITUTION: If a signal requesting a time shift is received while a decoded digital broadcasting signal is being reproduced, the presently received digital broadcasting signal is stored at a memory(S101-105). If a time shift reproducing signal is inputted while the received digital broadcasting signal is stored at the memory, it is judged whether the input time shift reproducing signal is a high speed reproducing key input signal(S106-S107). If so, the digital broadcasting signal stored at the memory after being time shifted is reproduced at a set rate(S108). It is judged whether broadcasting data stored at the memory exists(S109). If not, the presently receiving digital broadcasting data is displayed in real time(S110).
