Sun-protection system comprises an emergency reel device (14) having a pre-tensioned spring element and a releasable blocking device. When the blocking device is released the tension on the spring element is released and the spring element reels in a hanging (12) of the sun-protection system independently of any other drive provided for normal winding/unwinding of the hanging. The spring element has at least one lifting spring (16) with a lifting element acting on the hanging via a step-down gear (24, 26, 30, 34, 36) so that on release the lifting spring over its lifting path reels in the hanging over the reeling-in path which is longer than the lifting path. Preferred Features: A helical spring or a gas pressure spring is used as the lifting spring with a lifting piston (20) as the lifting element.
