PURPOSE: A rack assist type electric power steering system is provided to facilitate production and assembling by integrally forming a ball screw nut and a lock screw. CONSTITUTION: A rack assist type electric power steering system has a motor housing(121) disposed in the middle of a rack housing(110) with a rack(113); a motor shaft(124) rotatably disposed inside the motor housing; and a ball screw nut(125) inserted inside one end of the motor shaft, to drive the rack. A lock screw unit(126) is integrally extended to one end of the ball screw nut, to be screwed inside one end of the motor shaft. A stop ring(127) is formed to the outer end of the lock screw unit, to be axially fastened inside one end of the motor shaft. Thus, the manufacturing cost is reduced.
