PURPOSE: An optical fiber connecting structure and a connecting method for the optical fiber are provided to be capable of exactly aligning the position between optical fibers, reducing working time and space, and improving the workability of the optical fiber connecting method. CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber connecting structure includes two connecting part(13,14) located face to face with each other. At this time, a through hole is formed at the inner portion of each connecting part. The optical fiber connecting structure further includes two optical fibers(11,12) inserted into each through hole of the connecting part. At this time, the two optical fibers are connected with each other within the through hole of one connecting part. Preferably, the two optical fibers are connected with each other by using index matching material.
