A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display by encapsulating liquid crystal between substrates using drip injection method, in which an appropriate quantity of liquid crystal being dripped can be determined easily. A columnar spacer for keeping the thickness of a cell is formed on a CF substrate (step S1), height of the columnar spacer is measured (step S2), the quantity of liquid crystal being dripped is determined based on the number of an orientation film reforming processes (steps S6, S4) performed for the CF substrate following the measurement of the height of the columnar spacer to drip liquid crystal onto the CF substrate or a TFT substrate by a quantity thus determined (step S9), the CF substrate and the TFT substrate are pasted in the vacuum (step S10), and they are returned to the atmospheric pressure, thus injecting the liquid crystal between both substrates (step S11).
