The invention relates to a method for reading out data of a fuel metering system for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, particularly of a fuel pump or of an injector. According to the invention, data of the fuel pump and/or of the injector are assigned to an electronic component, and the data are taken into consideration by a control unit of the motor vehicle when the internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle is being controlled.
