A communication method and system by which the price of speech communication using a telephone network can be lowered. There is a difference between the charges for communication over a telephone network NWt country by country, for example, Japan and the United state of America. When speech communication between a first communication device 10 in a first area a1 such as Japan where the communication charge is high and a second communication device 40 over a telephone network NWt is made, the first communication device 10 is connected through a first connection device 20 such as a gateway server over a second data communication network NWd to a second connection device 30 such as a gateway server installed in a second area such as the United State of America where the communication charge using the telephone network NWt is low, and further connected to the second communication device 40 through the second connection device 30 over the telephone network NWt. |
