The invention relates to a system for variable billing of Internet charges depending on chosen Internet offers, comprising at least one user host (1) and a billing server system (2). The user host (2) is equipped with an auxiliary billing program that monitors rates-relevant queries to be launched by the user host (1) regarding Internet offers and which disconnects an existing link (A) of the user host (1) to an access server to the Internet (5) if rates-relevant information is detected and sets up a new link (T) to the billing server system (2) if said link to the billing server system (2) had not already been set up, whereupon the query from the billing server system (2) reaches the provider server that furnishes the chosen Internet offer. The billing server system (2) is designed in such a way that it keeps records of charges-relevant data of queries. The user host (1) and the billing server system (2) are designed in such a way that a change in rates is enabled without disconnecting the existing links (T) on the basis of the records pertaining to rates-relevant data. The invention also relates to a corresponding computer program product, to a billing server system and to a method for variable billing.
