Protein (I) comprising both an adenylate cyclase domain (ACD) and an ion-channel domain (ICD), is new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) nucleic acid (II), or its fragments, that is at least 65, especially 70,% identical with sequences (1; 2673 bp) and/or (2; 2999 bp), reproduced; (2) proteins and peptides (Ia) that are at least partly encoded by (II) or its fragments; (3) nucleic acid sequences (IIa) related to (II) and identified using them; (4) proteins and peptides (Ib) encoded by (IIa); and (5) therapeutic agents (A), particularly for malaria, cardiovascular disease and/or epilepsy, developed using (II) or (IIa).
