PURPOSE: A method of automatically occupying a trunk line in a private exchange is provided to previously register an occupying code by a subscriber, and to enable internal/external calls without pressing another occupying code when the subscriber urgently wants to use a trunk line, thereby quickly connecting the trunk line. CONSTITUTION: A subscriber prepares for a call(S301). A private exchange confirms whether a local dial tone is delivered from a telephone office(S302). If so, the private exchange decides whether the subscriber wants to make an extension call or an external call by canceling an occupying code with a hook-flash button(S303). If the subscriber wants to make the external call(A), the private exchange makes the call by pressing an external telephone number(S306). If the subscriber wants to make the extension call by pressing the hook-flash button(B), the private exchange confirms whether an extension dial tone is delivered(S304). The private exchange dials an extension number to be called, and makes the call(S305).
