The emergency brake device comprises two identical (left and right) parts each comprising a wedge (1) fixed on the cab (2) and a movable wedge (3). The movable wedge hangs by an additional weight (4) from the spring (6) and the deformation load on the spring is generated during normal operation of the lift by means of said weight. In the event of failure there is a console bracket (8) with electric contacts underneath the weight. If the spring breaks the weight drops down and closes the current circuit to release a control signal to stop the lift at the next stage and block further movement.
