Device for milling and dispersion of particles suspended in a liquid has a grinding space (2) defined by a driven rotor (3) and a stator (4). Particles in the chamber are milled, with the rheological properties of the resulting product determined by measurement of the rotor torque and from it the shear stress applied to the rotor during milling. An Independent claim is made for a method for producing a suspension comprising liquid and suspended particles, whereby the suspension properties are controlled by controlling the milling process by measurement of the rotor torque.
