Selflocking lock cylinder (1) enclosed in a linear motor, and of the type, which incorporates a piston (14), which is movable in the longitudinal direction of the cylinder, and which is movable together with a piston rod (13), and where in the cylinder is provided at least one locking mechanism situated adjacent anyone of the external positions for the piston rod (13), which locking mechanism has a radially movable first locking member in the form of balls (18) inserted in a retainer (17), and which balls by means of an operating mechanism which is movable to a limited degree with the piston rod, are arranged to be guided to locking engagement in cooperation with a second locking member, and to retain the first locking member in locking position in the second locking member, and where the locking effect can be abrogated first after supply of pressure fluid, whereby the second locking member is a locking groove (12), which is separated from the piston rod (13) and situated at a radial distance from this.
