PURPOSE: A case for a secondary battery and a gas room provided for the battery are provided, which has a expandable gas room for collecting the gas generated due to the charging/discharging, thereby preventing the leakage of an electrolyte due to the breakage of the joining part. CONSTITUTION: The case comprises a pouch for receiving an electrode assembly, and a gas room(100) which has a gas path for collecting the gas generated when the electrode assembly is charged and discharged and which is connected with the pouch, wherein the gas room is provided with the opposed upper and lower sides(110, 115) in parallel, the side walls(116) extended from the upper and lower sides for preparing the internal space between the upper and lower sides, and the joining part(117) formed by heat compressing the circumference of the upper side and that of the side walls. At least one of the upper and lower sides contains the bent part for allowing the internal space to be expanded readily when the gas is flown into the room. Preferably the bent part is a linear projection(130) or a cross-shaped project.
