The controlled fuel tank ventilation valve, between the intake tube to the internal combustion motor and an adsorption filter which can be regenerated, delivers a controlled air flow over the filter adsorption mass to take the fuel vapor under electronic control according to the measured values from a lambda probe at the exhaust side. The volume controlled opening action of the ventilation valve has an initial opening incline which brings the valve from a closed setting into a position where fuel vapor can pass through. The initial opening incline is larger than an incremental step.
